Men
The hidden half of domestic violence
Will You Be Made Whole?
When most people hear the word..."Bethesda" they
will often think of the large
Naval hospital in Maryland. At the risk of having the ACLU demand they change
the name of this well known hospital, I believe the name came from the Bible.
You see, there was a pool of water called "Bethesda" in Jerusalem that
in Hebrew
means "house of mercy" or "flowing water" We are told in
John chapter five
that scores if not hundreds of people waited by that pool because an angle
stirred the waters once in a while and the first one in, was ...well lets go to
the source to see....John 5:4 "For an angel went down at a certain season
into
the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of
the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had."
Jesus passed by that pool and saw a man who had been waiting there for 38 years.
Jesus then asked him.....do you want to be made whole?
I am not going to spend a lot of time talking about this as I have already
written about it in "DO YOU WANT TO BE HEALED"
http://www.shatterdmen.com/whenever_jesus_passed_by.htm
I do want to take some time to notice a few things in this narrative but let me
give you the actual account from John chapter five.
7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is
troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down
before me.
Here we see this man giving excuses of why he could not be healed. We hear many
excuses today for why people can not break addictions, bad habits, the cycle of
abuse, or a host of other problems We have many who suffer from "learned
poverty" and are waiting for others to meet their needs. If they have a
problem,
their solution is what can someone else do to solve the problem.
8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
Jesus expected this man to do something that he insisted he could not do....HE
gave him something he had to do in order to see this healing. Oh he could have
kept on laying there and he would never have been healed. Yet I do have to put
a disclaimer here in that often today we have those who want to demand that GOD
do this or that. There are those who say healing is a right that we can demand
and they justify it by taking scripture out of context such as "by these
stripes we are healed" fromIsaiah 53:5 but if we read that section
carefully, the healing that takes place
here is spiritual healing, not physical. You can read more about this at: Name
it and Claim it

and "With His Stripes We Are Healed?"

9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and
on the same day was the sabbath.
Now this is the verse I do want to focus on today. When did this healing take
place? Did he have to go through a twelve step program? Did he have to go to
rehab to learn to walk again or to build his strength back up? Even today, if
we make someone stay in bed for a few weeks, they will often be very weak when
they try to walk yet this man was told not only to get up without assistance,
but to pick up his belongings and walk. (actually "bed" would be like
a cot is
today)
Lets go back to verse six....the question was ...do you want to be made whole.
When he took up his bed and walked, he was made whole.
Whole indicates one is made sound...to be restored to health...but it means even
more. It comes from the Greek "hygiçs" and it also indicates
"teaching which
does not deviate from the truth"
This shows why Jesus could make this man...or any man woman boy or girl
whole...HE IS THE TRUTH!!!!!
Jesus said in John 8:32: "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall
make
you free." In reality, it is always the truth, the sound doctrine that will
set
us free. If we read the verse before this one, we find that we need to keep in
the Word to find this truth for Jesus IS the Word.
What do we need to be made whole from? How about those strongholds or the
wrong mind sets that keep us captive? Those memories that cause the flash
backs? How about the past? Do we need to be set free from the cycle of abuse?
Or perhaps from self destructive addictions or feelings of worthlessness?
Far more important....do you need to be set free from the burden of unforgiving
sin? Come to the TRUTH to be set free. Jesus is waiting....to make you whole.
Although the healing of disease may take time and we may not even see it this
side of eternity, the healing from the burden if sin just like we saw in this
man above is
IMMEDIATE!
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed
away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
If you have not been healed from this burden, please read:
http://www.shatterdmen.com/first_step.htm
For healing from these things other things such as abuse or addictions, we
often need to do something just as this man had to "get up and walk"
We will have to renew our mind to see this healing....to be made whole because
it is the sound doctrine...the Truth that will make us
whole.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your
bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable
service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of
your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect,
will of God. Romans 12:1-2

My precious friend, Jesus wants you to be whole. He told us that HE came to
give us life...and to give it to us more abundantly. If you do not have this
abundant life...please call out to Jesus...HE is only a ...whisper away.
If we can help you in anyway, please let us know!
