How to have eternal life

TAPS

Of all the military bugle calls, none is so easily recognized or more
apt to render emotion than the call Taps. The melody is both eloquent
and haunting and the history of its origin is interesting and
somewhat clouded in controversy. In the British Army, a similar call
known as Last Post has been sounded over soldiers' graves since 1885

"Fading light dims the sight,
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright.
From afar drawing nigh -- Falls the night.

"Day is done, gone the sun,
From the lake, from the hills, from the sky.
All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.

"Then good night, peaceful night,
Till the light of the dawn shineth bright,
God is near, do not fear -- Friend, good night."

"TAPS is the most beautiful bugle call. Played slowly and softly, it
has a smooth, tender and touching character. The bugle call was
written during the Peninsula Campaign of the Civil War by General
Butterfield, with an assist from his bugler, Oliver W. Norton, in
1862.

"TAPS" went on from its origin as an alternative to "Lights Out" to
become not only a signal that day was done, but also to say good-bye
to a fallen comrade.

Taps, or rather "Last Post" was played for State funeral held for Sir
Winston Churchill in St Paul's Cathedral Immediatly after the last
note sounded, another trumpet call could be heard echoing through the
cathedral on the other side Reveille

"Reveille"--"It's time to get up. It's time to get up. It's time to
get up in the morning." That was Churchill's testimony that at the
end of history, the last note will not be "Taps," it will
be "Reveille."

That will be true for every true Christian! You see, immediately
after our last heart beat, we will be face to face with our Savior
and LORD, Jesus Christ. It is for this very reason GOD tells us in
Psalm 116:15 "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his
saints" You see, for a Christian, death is not the end. It is in
reality the begining for we will be with the LORD forever more.
Remember Jesus also promised that those who believe in HIM...will
NEVER die.

John 11:25-26

25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that
believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
Believest thou this?

1 Corinthians 15:54-55 goes on to say:

54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this
mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass
the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory

Oh, our LORD knows the sorrow we as humans have when a loved one goes
home to be with HIM. Jesus wept at a funeral for a dear friend, but
we are also comforted with the fact that as long as both our loved
one and we have placed out trust in Jesus for salvation...we WILL be
reunited.

My friend, this message only applies to those who KNOW the
LORD...those who have a personal relationship with HIM. If you do
not know 100% sure that you have this relationship, it may well be
that TAPS will be the final note for you. (Hebrews 9:27 And as it
is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:)
