The hidden half of domestic violence
A Kitten in the Miry Clay
From the Shattered Men guest book:
"This is one funny website. Fake letters from dads to kids, crazy
claims about "real rape", the fact that it is called Shat Terd
Men..."
I posted this entry in our moderators group and it has been
suggested that He's either hurting and does not want to
admit it, or satan has an agent out there mocking what God can do.
The consensus is that he may well be hurting.
This got me thinking about a couple of other things.
We had a "wild cat" that had kittens in our pole barn a month ago.
When she knew we had discovered them, she moved them. Lisa tried to catch them a
couple of weeks ago but they would always run away and hide before she could get
them. Last week, when I was going to town I saw one of these kittens sitting on
the road. It had been raining
all night and it was cold. I am sure the kitten was on the black top
to try to get warm. It did not move when I slowly drove by it so I
parked and went back to see if I could get this kitten my wife had
been trying to catch for several days. It still did not move until
I grabbed it. It let out a loud hiss...and "spat" at me like it was
going to tear me apart. This kitten...with a weight of maybe two
pounds....This kitten who was also too weak to run away.
Now this kitten purrs when she sees us and will not leave our side.
When our grand daughter held it and started to go outside with it,
it jumped out of her arms and hid. I wonder if it thought she was
going to be taken back outside and left.
I wonder how often those men we think of as "macho" or perhaps some
of these radical feminist that brag about not needing anyone
especially a man are not just like this kitten. They hiss and spit
to make us think they can tear us apart, but in reality, they are
hurting so much inside. Often this hurt is so deep, they may not
even realize it themselves. Just as this kitten, they may feel it is
hopeless. They may be trying to find what they need in dangerous
places. For this kitten, it was the middle of a road. A car could
have hit it, or a hawk could have flown down and snatched it up.
For a person, it could be hanging out with a gang to feel accepted
by someone, or using mind-altering substances to forget they are
actually helpless to change who and what they are.
I think of the mother of this kitten. She was trying to provide for
her kitten. She moved and hid it from what she thought was danger
but may now have found it has been snatched up by those she hid it
from. In reality, her kitten is safe, warm and has a full tummy. I
think of how some parents react when someone who loves the LORD
talks to their child about a man named…JESUS and at times they think
this is the worse thing that anyone could have done just like the
father who tried to get "under God" removed from the pledge of
allegiance because he did not want his child "contaminated"
by "religion".
All of us have been in situations similar to this. King David tells
us in Psalm 40:2: "He brought me up also out of an horrible pit,
out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and
established my goings."
Synonyms for miry are: boggy, marshy, swampy. When I think of miry
clay, I think of...quicksand.
Usually, when one falls into quicksand, the more they struggle, the
deeper they go. Most cannot get out on their own strength. They
need someone to throw a lifeline by which they can be pulled out.
I have seen many in the quicksand of life. I was there once
myself. Some have gotten into homosexual or lesbian relationships
and into gangs, which has had them do things, which will keep them
from leaving to avoid it being exposed. Others have gotten into
cults, witchcraft, or other things in which their very life has been
threatened if they leave. Everything seems hopeless. They are up
to their necks in this miry clay and they think no one is around
they can call for help from.
My friend, if this described you…there IS someone standing very near…
there over in the shadow. He needs for you to call out to Him and
He will lift you out of this miry clay and He will set you on solid
ground. His name is Jesus. He cannot do anything until you call
for Him
Standing somewhere in the shadows you'll find Jesus he's the only
one who cares and understands standing somewhere in the shadows you will find
him and you'll know him by the nail prints in his hand
There may be some reading this that do not feel they need help.
They do not feel they are in the quicksand of life. Many have gone
to church and heard how someone was saved from drug addiction,
sexual promiscuity and crime. They feel they do not have anything
worthwhile to say. They have lived a good life, even gone to church
so what is there for God to save them from? My friend, this too is
a powerful testimony in that GOD did save you from the stenches of
sin but you still need to call upon the LORD for salvation if you
have not already. In a way, you would have an even more powerful
story because it is often more difficult to help those who never
did "evil" things to realize they too need a savior. We have all
fallen short of what GOD wants from us…we all need a savior. The
following will explain it:
Many people know ABOUT God but to have a relationship with Him, we have to KNOW
Him. What is the difference?
Knowing about God can include us being aware of all the facts
concerning Him. Many people think that knowing that Jesus Christ
died for our sin is all that is needed for salvation. It is NOT! In
order to have salvation that is to have eternal life there are a few
basic steps we need to follow. This is so important I want to go
over them,
1: We need to realize we have sinned. Romans 3:23 For all have
sinned and come short of the Glory of God This means we have failed
to met the goal of being perfect in order to enter heaven. Few of us
would question this.
2: The penalty for the sin that we are guilty of is death. Romans
6:23 tells us The wages of sin is death. (Death is separation. When
our body dies, our soul is separated from our body. Eternal death is
when we die without doing what is being explained here and then our
spirit is separated from God for eternity.
Since the only price we can pay for our own sin is to be separated
from God forever, it stands to reason that there is no way we can
pay for our sin ourselves. We thus come to the 2nd part of Romans
6:23: but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ the
Lord.
3: 2nd Corinthians 5:21 informs us: For he hath made him, who knew
no sin, to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of
God in him. Jesus Christ, God's only Son became sin for us so that
we can be freed from the penalty of sin. What then do we need to do?
4: For GOD so loved the world that HE gave His only begotten Son
that whosoever (read YOUR name here) believeth in Him should not
perish but have everlasting life. Please note the ONLY condition
given is that we believe in Jesus Christ for full payment for our
sin.
5: Many times our own past activities or the activities of our
ancestors may be a basis for demonic problems based on Exodus 20:5.
It is important therefore to Renounce the sins of our ancestors.
Now if we only learn these facts, even though we may understand that
they are true and believe them. that is only knowing ABOUT GOD. How do we KNOW
HIM then? It is APPLYING that payment to our account. This would be like having
a check to pay a bill and putting the
check on a desk. The bill does not get paid because the check was
never APPLIED to your account. Once we know and believe the facts
pointed out above, the next step is to TALK to God much as you and I
would and admit that we have fallen short of what He wants.
We recognize that we deserve to be separated from a Holy God. We
then tell Him that we know that He has provided a payment for all
our sin and this payment was Jesus Christ when He died on a cross.
It is at this time we ask God to APPLY THIS PAYMENT TO OUR ACCOUNT.
We ask God to credit as PAYMENT IN FULL for all our sin the price
Jesus paid for us. It is this step that gives us eternal life. If we
do all but this step, we know about God.
When we do this step, we will KNOW God and we will have eternal
life. Following is a model of a prayer to trust Christ.
Lord God, I now realize I am a sinner. I realize I have fallen
short of the goal You have set forth for eternal life and I now
repent of this sin. I also understand that according to Your Word,
the Bible, that Your Son, Jesus Christ as paid the debt for me and I
am now asking You to credit the payment Jesus made on the cross to
my sin. Lord God, I also renounce any sin on the part of my
ancestors that may have been invitations to curses or demonic
activity. Lord God I also now understand that You have now given
me eternal life and I thank You for that fact. Amen.
