Going Home

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

In looking back over my life, I can see many times where I have attempted to "serve" the LORD but these attempts lasted only a few months until the fall of 1999 when I tried something different.  Instead of doing the things that "I" wanted to do to serve HIM, I decided to do the things HE wanted me to do. (1)   There is another aspect of this serving God also. I have had many people in recent years tell me that they have tried to serve God and have fallen so often that they feel like giving up.  Oh, they do not want to give up but they think that there is no way they can get it right.  My advise has always been to STOP serving God and simply learn to LOVE Him.  You see, when we are serving someone, it is a task, a job but when we love someone, we want to do the things that please them and it is not burdensome to do so.

Since then, I have written many messages to help heal the scars of abuse (2), to help strengthen troubled marriages (3)  and the causes of abuse (4) (5)

Along with this we have had discussions on our interactive group as to how much we should be activist by trying to changes unjust laws vs. a support group to simply give support to those who come to Shattered Men. In reality, we need to do both. (6) (7)  As part of our activism, we have been active with RADAR (Respecting Accuracy in Domestic Abuse Reporting) (8)

We have also encouraged many who were ready to give up and yes, some were ready to even take their own lives to keep on fighting and to become a formidable enemy to those who who were essentially legally kidnapping their children. (9) Along with this, we have tried to help those who have never had to be concerned about these things to have an idea of how it feels to have your children stolen from you (10)

Along with all of this, one subject that comes up every so often is The Purpose of Shattered Men (11)  This often involves much of what we mentioned above, but it has included questions on how "religious" we should be. Although Shattered Men's interactive group is listed under Yahoo's health groups, we do feel very strongly that the only real solution to the problems we face can be found in a right relationship with Jesus Christ. We can not however simply state that, we have to show people who this relates to their problems. 

Although it is my desire to help everyone that comes to Shattered Men to heal from the scars of abuse, it does not matter if we help them to get everything they want so they can "live happily ever after" for the next one hundreds years, if they should die without knowing they have eternal life.  The Bible does tell us: For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16:26

My friend, we only have to look around us to see that things are not getting better.  Last fall, I wrote a very important message called "Not McCain, Not Obama, but YOU!"  (12) in which we pointed out the real solution to the great problems either presidential candidate would be facing and that the real solution rested with those who call themselves Christians.  Since that time, I contend things have gotten even worse. We see two very dangerous nations that are very close to have nuclear weapons and things are still volatile throughout the world.  In short, I firmly believe we are seeing many of the "signs of the times" that indicate that history as we know it will soon be coming to an end. In Matthew 24, the Apostles asked Christ what would be the signs of His second coming. The answer went on for another 49 verses. I believe we are seeing these signs in record numbers today.

As a pastor, I  firmly believe that Shattered Men has been ordained by God because it is the only ministry that addresses domestic abuse from a truly Biblical prospective. You can see this by two messages I have written. (14) (15) You see, I have not been able to find any others that have not used the traditional feminist statistics which are more myth then truth and many of these ministries also use the same solutions as do traditional feminist sources...divorce. However, as a pastor, my first priority, or my first job is that I am an ambassador. You see, an ambassador does not reflect his or her own interests, they reflect the interest of the country they represent.  Although I live in the United States and I am a citizen of this country, this world is not my home.  I look for another place to call home and because I have placed my trust in Jesus Christ, I am a citizen  of another place.

For our citizenship is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:  Philippians 3:20

 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.  2 Corinthians 5:20

As such I have a duty to warn people of potential danger. I have done so in several messages. NO Warnings (16) Unheeded Warns (17) What an Awakening (18) and Hoof Beats (19) are just a few of these warns.

What are these warns about?  They are about what many call the Rapture or the event in which the Lord will return for His people.  I will admit that there are some differences of opinion  about when this even will occur and it is not my purpose to argue about the timing, My purpose is to alert each of you to the fact that time is short.  Even if we knew without a doubt that we would live another 50 years, Hezekiah was the only person I can remember that was promised a tomorrow.  (You can read about it in 2 Kings 20)  As for the rest of us, we are all only one heart beat away from meeting our Creator.  The question is, will we face Him at the White Throne Judgment where there is only one verdict...depart from me, I never knew you, or will we face the Judgment seat of Christ where our works will be judge for rewards but our fate is to have eternal life with the LORD?

When the LORD does return there will be a whole lot of people going home. The question...will you be one of them?  Read the song below....

PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR LAST OPPORTUNITY SLIP AWAY...Even if you live for another 50 years, there is no way of knowing if this could be your last chance.
