The hidden half of domestic violence
How Soon We Forget!
A few weeks ago, when I was having a
disagreement with my wife...ok,
an argument and yes we have them too, I caught myself saying
something like, "I never get anything I want" I realized that that
was not true. How soon I forget those times my wife made a special
dinner with the foods I like or so many other special things she has
done for me. This of course works both ways. We all forget so
quickly the good things that others have done for us.
This is not a recent problem. It is very evident in the history of
Israel. Before the Pharaoh did let them go, Moses was used to being
ten judgments on Egypt. Before each of these, he gave instructions
on how to avoid the penalty of these judgments ending with what has
been known as the Passover. God had always sparred Israel of these
judgments but we find their memory lacking only a short time later.
In Exodus 14 we find them asking Moses, were there not enough graves
in Egypt that he had to take them to the wilderness to die? They
even said it was better to be a slave in Egypt then to die there.
How soon they forget the way God delivered them from the judgments HE
brought upon Egypt.
Many other times we are told about the memory lapse of the children
of God...the golden calf, the Promised Land...all so easily forgotten
what GOD can do for us.
Before we so easily condemn Israel for their memory loss...let us
check OURS. How often do we have a great blessing from the LORD, one
in which HE shows HIS power, His love, His grace only to come to a
small obstacle in the path and then cry out woe is me....God has
forgotten me.
We can see it in the poem "Footsteps" where we are told about one set
of foot prints in the sand where Jesus was carrying us.
We need to be reminded, that the God that we see on the mountain, is
STILL GOD in the valley. This song by Lynde Randle does just that.
Life is easy when you're up on the mountain
and you've got peace of mind like you've never known.
But then things change and you're down in the valley.
Don't lose faith for you're never alone.
For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley.
When things go wrong, He'll make it right.
And the God of the good times is still God in the bad times.
The God of the day is still God in the night.
You talk of faith when you're up on the mountain.
Oh but the talk comes easy when life's at its best.
But it's down in the valley of trials and temptation
that's when faith is really put to the test.
For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley.
When things go wrong, He'll make it right.
And the God of the good times is still God in the bad times.
The God of the day is still God in the night.
For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley.
When things go wrong, He'll make it right.
And the God of the good times is still God in the bad times.
The God of the day is still God in the night.
The God of the day is still God in the night.

My friend, lets work harder on remembering the good things others
have done for us, to thank them for those times and also to remember
that even if we are not a Christian, that ALL good things do come
from GOD. The breath you take, the heart beat that pumps blood in
your body are all gifts from God. Your very existence is a gift from
God...and you will know fully how precious that is when you take
advantage of God's most precious gift...Jesus.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting
life

James
1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh
down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of
turning.
