The hidden half of domestic violence
BITTERNESS
Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest
any man fail of the grace of
God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and
thereby many be defiled;
Many wonder why God does not bless them. They wonder why their
prayers do not seem to go beyond the ceiling. I think one of the
keys is right here....lest any root of bitterness springing up
trouble you. Bitterness stems from anger that is not dealt with. It
is a result of unforgivness.
Often this anger is a result of pride. I have seen many times when
one becomes angry because they did not get what they wanted or their
goal was blocked by another person because that person did not
respond the way they were expected to or they did not do what we
wanted them to do.
First of all, if we have a goal blocked, it does provoke anger but we
should never make a goal that another person has to do something for
us to reach that goal. I can not have a goal like "it is my goal for
my wife to have dinner on the table at 5 PM every night. That can be
a desire but not a goal but if I express that desire to her, I also
need to make sure I am there at 5 every night or at least to call her
to let her know I will be late.
Ask the LORD to examine you to see if there is any bitterness that
has not be dealt with in the light of God's word. Ask if there is
any unforgivness or anger that has taken root in our life. Lets all
let God clean out all of these cob webs from our life so we do not
hinder our prayers.
